Commsignia Unveils Emergency Safety Suite at ITS America to Slash Response Times and Protect First Responders

Jun 8, 2026

At ITS America, Commsignia is proving that data saves lives. The company today introduced the Commsignia Emergency Safety Suite, a connected fleet solution designed to reduce emergency response times and eliminate intersection collisions. Moving beyond legacy signal preemption, the suite acts as a fully integrated safety shield for first responders by combining secure V2X (vehicle-to-everything) communications with cloud-aware intelligence

Crossing an intersection is one of the most dangerous moments of an emergency response call. Lights and sirens can create a false sense of security as modern vehicle insulation often prevent drivers from hearing sirens until it is too late, placing crews, civilians, and equipment at serious risk. The Emergency Safety Suite addresses these risks by tapping into the “ground truth” of the Commsignia Trust Engine, a road safety digital twin platform that provides early awareness of traffic events that legacy sensors often miss, including queue build-ups, accidents, and temporary lane closures. The Trust Engine’s verified data allows the system to warn responders of hidden hazards like jaywalkers or red-light violators well before they are visible.

This improved awareness is reinforced by intuitive in-cab feedback that provides non-distractive confirmation of intersection clearance, effectively eliminating the high-stress “dilemma zone” for emergency crews. Furthermore, the system extends protection to the broader community by delivering digital alerts directly to the dashboards of connected vehicles, prompting motorists to clear the lane before sirens are even audible.

Commsignia’s data-driven approach enables predictable, coordinated signal priority to slash emergency response times by 10-15% over legacy systems, while integrated analytics dashboards track performance and incidents to provide full visibility into operational ROI and system health.

“The Emergency Safety Suite reflects our commitment to applying connected vehicle technology where it matters most: saving time and protecting lives,” said Szabi Patay, CEO of Commsignia. “It turns intersections into intelligent partners for emergency response, raising first responder safety and efficiency to the next level.”

With over 20,000 collisions involving emergency vehicles occurring annually in the U.S., the suite aims to protect city budgets from legal liabilities and compounding financial consequences while ensuring fleet reliability. Built on standards-based V2X messaging already deployed in over 15 states, the solution is designed for seamless integration into existing signal and dispatch workflows without costly rip-and-replace cycles.

“Legacy signal preemption is no longer enough when first responder lives and city budgets are at stake. Beyond the physical danger, the legal liability and financial fallout from intersection crashes create a burden no agency can afford. We’re providing the tools to ensure a fast, coordinated response where safety is never a compromise,” said Greg Horvath, Product Manager for Priority and Safety Solutions

Live Demonstrations at ITS America

Attendees can experience the Emergency Safety Suite at the Commsignia booth through an immersive narrative anchored by real-world video footage and a simulated intersection environment. The demo features a simulated emergency cabin showing real-time audio-visual alerts, and responder-focused V2X messaging utilizing Commsignia’s high-accuracy data fusion of smart sensors detecting jaywalkers and obstacles. Meanwhile, the dashboards display the vehicles’ real-time locations, key performance indicators, and the system’s operational status.
